Dr. Tsfay Araya Weldeslassie

Tesfay Araya is an associate professor in Soil Physics at the Department of Agronomy in University of Fort Hare, South Africa. Previously, he was working as an associate professor of Soil Science at the Department of Dryland Crop and Horticultural Sciences in Mekelle University, Ethiopia, where he was also the Coordinator of the VLIR-funded 10-years project on Conservation Agriculture jointly implemented by CIMMYT and Mekelle University. Born in Adwa, Ethiopia, Tesfay received his PhD in Applied Biological Sciences with focus on Soil Management from Ghent University, Belgium, MSc in Crop Production from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and BSc in Dryland Crop Science from Mekelle University, Ethiopia. He was also postdoctoral fellow in Soil Science at the Department of Agronomy in University of Fort Hare where he is presently working. He had also short-term assignments as a Research Visitor in both Ghent University, Belgium and University of Bonn, Germany. He has published over 20 papers in reputed journals.
